House Marija

House Marija was built in the time when Kornati were visited by wooden boats driven by sails or paddles. It is situated directly by the sea in the Lojena cove (Island Smokvica). It served as a shelter and sleepover place after fishing, livestock or agricultural work. Built in a minimalist way in stone it realistically speaks of poverty and the lifestyle in the past.

The house has been minimally modernized and it contains a kitchen and toilette on the ground floor and bedrooms on the upper floor. The kitchen is equipped with a gas stove, refrigerator, sink and needed utensils. The bedroom is situated on the first floor and has two beds (190 x 150 cm). The bedroom has direct sea view. The toilette is on the ground floor and the shower is outside the house. Water needs to be used rationally because it is retreived from two water tanks with limited capacities. Electricity is obtained through the sun.
